This position represents a sub-group of the Software Development team within Delta. Specifically, this particular position will directly address our efforts to optimize our database schema, improve performance of the DataVine system, and enhance stability. The candidate will be responsible for the architecture of our mongo and SQL database and how transactions are performed on them. The candidate will monitor and report on the health of our databases as well as fix any issues that might arise in these resources.

Principal Responsibilities

  • DB Maintenance, Design, and Modifications: The database manager will be responsible for making sure the database schemas in the DataVine system are designed to the current industry best standards as well as maintaining our existing databases and ensuring proper backups. The database manager will also work with the software development team whenever new features are introduced to asses and deploy any needed modifications to our databases.
  • DB Security: The database manager will work with our lead security engineer on a set of policies and controls for our databases to mitigate vulnerabilities within the DataVine system. The database manager will be responsible for implementing and enforcing these rules.
  • DB Optimization: The database manager will be responsible for analyzing our infrastructure and making sure it is optimized for the fastest transactions possible. The database manager shall also be responsible for keeping up with new resources and techniques within the field that can improve our core systems
  • DB Monitoring, Documentation, and Reporting: The database manager will be responsible for creating a robust set of monitoring tools and reports for our databases and maintaining them over each software and hardware iteration. A successful candidate will proactively find issues and break down the health of the system into easily digestible reporting.
  • Issue Resolving: The database manager will be responsible for diagnosing and producing an action plan to fixes any issues discovered in our databases.


  • Education level and/or relevant experience(s): A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and three to four years of experience as a database manager or four to five years of experience as a database manager without a degree.
  • Technical & Data Skills: A deep understanding of SQL and NoSQL database architecting and development. Specifically, experience with MySQL and MongoDB. The candidate should also have experience with Linux and Windows virtual machines (Azure VM preferred but not necessary) as well as familiarity with iterative software development processes, working with remote teams, and troubleshooting complex issues


This particular position will liaise closely with Delta’s CTO, Director of Software Development, the software development team and our international development partners {as appropriate}.  Initially, this position will specifically support all database related to DataSCAPE™ and the Collection Engine.  Later, this position will support activities related to the PowerVISR™ and other DSGN™ applications/devices.  A successful candidate must work autonomously, accepting responsibility for key deliverables against an established timeline.  The candidate will need to collaborate globally across a geographically diverse and distributed team.  A strong grasp on the software development process, mongo database design, and SQL database design are mandatory for a successful candidate. A high degree of computer science technical competence is required.
